Q&A with Ashley Wilson

What interests you most about taking on DIY projects?
I like being able to make my house how I like it on a budget. DIY means I can customize things on my timeline and that really works for my lifestyle.

What creative areas do you prefer to focus on?
I definitely prefer to focus my creativity on my home. I have endless ideas for projects to do. Sometimes I like to paint too, but rarely have time for that.

What do you consider to be your greatest business accomplishment thus far?
Being able to quit my full time job was a major accomplishment. My husband also works on my blog now too and that was major. This year we bought a home in Florida to redo and that was a huge accomplishment that I worked years towards.

What has been your most difficult project that you’ve tackled?
Probably my laundry room. One whole wall had to be ripped out and it was an exterior wall. Having your home open to the outside two weeks before it was supposed to be done was so scary! We also had a tankless water heater and our installer didn’t complete the job so my husband and I had to figure it out. That room was one surprise after another, but I sure love how it turned out! | Laundry Room Reveal

Do you have a brand partner that you consider to be your favorite?
I love working with Kichler lighting. They are so supportive of my projects and we’ve worked together for years. I’ve gotten to know their social team and just love them! A loyal relationship like that is priceless to me.

Which platform helps you to reach your audience the most, and how do you keep them engaged?
Instagram are where my people are. I’m always dreaming up projects to share with them and different ways to connect. I have the most supportive followers and they’ve helped make each project better. It’s such a great community that I’m really grateful for.

Based upon your personal experience, what’s one piece of advice that you’d give to blogger/influencers?
My number one piece of advice is to stay true to yourself. People can sense a phony a mile away. Tell your story and show up to serve them while being real.

What’s one fun fact about you that our readers would be surprised to know?
I grew up super shy. I used to not be able to speak to a new person I’d meet. Being able to speak at a conference is a huge deal for me and young Ashley would be so proud 🙂

What do you like most about HAVEN Conference?
I like that it’s such a great place to connect with other bloggers and brands. It’s small enough that you can create deep bonds. It’s my favorite conference and I’ll always go back!

What do you want your audience to take away from your presentation at the Heart of HAVEN virtual conference?
I want them to know that they can charge (and charge well) for their services. I want them to know how special they are and that they bring huge skills to the table that brands value and will pay for!
